Large Sized $20.00 Gold Certificates were issued for five series: 1863, 1882, 1905, 1906 and 1922.

Series 1863 is the first Series of $20.00 Gold Certificates. The Eagle vignette on the left represents "E. Pluribus Unum"
All Series 1863 $20.00 Gold Certificates bear the signatures of S.B. Colby and F.E. Spinner and
are hand dated and countersigned by an Assistant Treasurer of the United States.

The face and back of Series 1905 $20.00 Gold Certificates represent a complete new design. The portrait in the center of the face is George Washington, the first President of the United States.
The vivid gold coloring of the face gives these notes the nickname "TechniColor".
