Large Sized $50.00 Gold Certificates were issued for three series: 1882, 1913 and 1922. There are seven distinct varieties (major differences with Face Design, Seal Type or Back design) within this denomination.

The face and back of Series 1882 $100.00 Gold Certificates represent a complete new design. The portrait on the left side of the face is Thomas H. Benton, a member of both the U.S. Senate (1821 - 1851) and House of Representatives (1853 - 1855).
