$100.00 Treasury Notes

Large Sized $100.00 Treasury Notes were issued for two series: 1890 and 1891. There are two distinct varieties (major differences with Face Design, Seal Type and / or Back Design) within this denomination.

Series 1890 is the first Series of $100.00 Coin Notes. The portrait on the right of the face is of Admiral David Glasgow Farragut, the first Admiral in the US Navy.

This Note is often refered to as the "$100 Watermellon" because of its denomination and the fact that the Zeros on the back look like watermellons.
