Robert Bernard Anderson
Robert Anderson was the second Secretary of the Treasury to serve during the Eisenhower administration. Before serving in this capacity, he had served in the Texas State Legislature, was the Assistant Attorney General for Texas, and the Texas State Tax Commissioner. After this run of public office, he moved to the private sector, working in ranching and oil. During the Eisenhower administration, he returned to government work, serving as Secretary of the Navy and Secretary of Defense before becoming the Secretary of the Treasury.
Years later, Anderson pled guilty to charges of tax evasion related to possible money laundering involving an unregistered off-shore bank that he operated. He was allegedly a consultant and lobbyist for Rev. Sun Myung Moon and his Church of Unification.
