John Bowden Connally

Before serving as the Secretary of the Treasury, John Connally was Governor of Texas. He may well be best remembered for being in the car when President Kennedy was shot. Connally was also wounded, but survived.

Although he was a Democrat, he was appointed to be Secretary of the Treasury by a Republican President.
