George Magoffin Humphrey

George Humphrey was appointed to office of Secretary of the Treasury by Eisenhower, and oversaw tax cuts, reforms in the tax laws. He saw a budget surplus in 1956, probably due in part to his desire to cut government spending.

Mr. Humphrey stared his career working as a lawyer and went on to be a industrialist, working in steel, coal and natual gas.
