G. William Miller

Mr. Miller started his adult life as an officer in the Coast Guard after World War II. He went on to become a lawyer before going to work for Textron, Inc., where he ultimately was elected CEO. He was a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, then became Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board.

It only seems fitting that after all that involvement with the Federal Reserve System, he'd be appointed to an office that allowed him to sign our money. This happened in the second half of President Carter's administration.

Secretary of the Treasury from 08/07/1979 through 01/20/1981
