General William Starke Rosecrans

A Civil War Union General who lost command in 1865.

Two years after losing his command, he resigned from the army, moved to L.A. and became the US Minister to Mexico from 1868-1869. He also served as a congressman for two terms beginning in 1881, and was later appointed to the post of Register of the Treasury.
