Frederick Moore Vinson

Frederick Vinson started his career as a lawyer, serving as City Attorney in his home town in Kentucky. He went on to be elected Commonwealth Attorney in Kentucky, then a member of Congress. While in congress, he served on the Ways and Means Committee.

He was appointed by FDR to be an associate justice for the US Circuit Court of Appeals, then chief judge of the Emergency Court of Appeals. He quit being a judge when he was appointed Director of Economic Stablization, Federal Loan Administrator, and Director of War Mobilization and Reconstruction.

He also got appointed by Truman to be the Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court.
