Mary Ellen Withrow

When women are successful, our whole country thrives.
-- Mary Ellen Withrow

Ms. Withrow was the Treasurer of Marion County, Ohio, Ohio State Treasurer, and (the 40th) Treasurer of the United States. She also served on the the board of directors of Women Executives in State Government

Ms. Withrow has been one of the more visible Treasurers in recent history, having often been sighted at coin and currency shows, autographing money (again) for anyone who asked. She was a part of the "State Quarters" project, the Sacagewea dollar coint project and the first issue of two dollar notes in nearly 20 years. While in office, our country has seen more changes in its money than any other time in recent memory,

She also has the distinction of being the Treasurer when the redesigned $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100 notes were introduced.

Treasurer of the United States from 03/01/1994 through 01/20/2001
