Small Sized $1.00 United States Notes were issued for only one Series: 1928. There is only one distinct variety (major differences with Series, Face Design, Seal Type and / or Back Design) within this denomination.

These notes are commonly called "Legal Tenders" because of the payment obligation printed on the faces stating "This Note is a Legal Tender.."

Although printed in 1933, this issue was not released until the Post World War II recession in 1948 and 1949. These notes were released into circulation in Puerto Rico.

The Series 1928 $1.00 United States Notes represents the only Design Type of this class of notes. The Portrait in the center of the face is George Washington. The backs of Series 1928 $1.00 notes are referred to as "Funny Backs".
