$1.00 Silver Certificates

Small Sized $1.00 Silver Certificates were issued for nineteen Series: 1928, 1928A, 1928B, 1928C, 1928D, 1928E, 1934, 1935, 1935A, 1935B, 1935C, 1935D, 1935E, 1935F, 1935G, 1935H, 1957, 1957A and 1957B.

There are four distinct varieties (major differences with Series, Face Design, Seal Type and / or Back Design) within this denomination.

With the exception of a one time (Series 1928) issue of United States (Legal Tender) Notes, all small sized $1.00 notes were Silver Certificates until 1963. Starting in 1934, these simply said they were redeemable "in silver" instead of "in silver dollars"; and they could be redeemed in silver at the United States Treasury all the way until 1968.
