Thomas A. Hendricks

Thomas A. Hendricks

(September 7, 1819 - November 25, 1885)

Thomas Hendricks was born in Zanesville, Ohio. He started his career as a lawyer. He was a member of the State House of Representatives of Indiana in 1848, elected to Congress from 851 through 1855 and was elected to the U.S. Senate from 1863 through 1869. He was elected Governor of Indiana in 1872 and was Vice President of the United States under Presient Cleveland and served in that position until his death.
