Abraham Lincoln

(February 12, 1809 - April 15, 1865)

Abraham Lincoln was born in Hardin County (Now Larue County), Kentucky. He started his career as a lawyer. He served on the Illinois State House of Reprentatives from 1834 through 1841, was a U.S. Representative from Illinois from 1847 through 1849 and was elected the 16th President of the united States in 1860.

Lincoln's policies resulted in the secession of the Southern States from the Union and the onset of the Civil War. He abolished Slavery and was assassinated while in office.
