Joseph K. Mansfield

(December 22, 1803 - September 18, 1862)

Joseph King Fenno Mansfield was born in New Haven, Connecticut. He graduated from West Point in 1822. He fought in the Mexican War and the Civil War. General Mansfield was mortally wounded during the Civil War Battle of Antietam, on Septmeber 17, 1862.

General Mansfield was promoted posthumously to Major General on March 12, 1863, retroactive to July 18, 1862.
