James Birdseye McPherson

(November 14, 1828 - July 22, 1864)

James Birdseye McPherson was born in Clyde, Ohio. He graduated from West Point in 1853. During the Civil War he was a Brigadier General for the Union Army. He replaced General Sherman as head of the army of the Tennesee and was mortally wounded during the Battle of Atlanta.
