Edwin M. Stanton

(December 19, 1814 - December 24, 1869)

Edwin McMasters Stanton was born in Steubenville, Ohio. He served as U.S. Attorney General from 1860 through 1861, as Secretary of War for Lincoln and Johnson from 1862 through 1868.
