Ulysses S. Grant

General Winfield Scott Hancock

(February 14, 1824 - February 9, 1886)

Winfield Hancock was a Brigadier General during the Civil War. He was named after the great General Winfield Scott, the man who just decades earlier, put down the great war between Maine and New Brunswick.

He served as a Major General after the war.

He was nominated for President by the Democratic Party for the 1880 election but was defeated by James Garfield.
